Your light hearted tip for today:
Dance in the Kitchen.
Poorly. Gleefully. With the confidence of a woodland creature who has just now discovered legs. In other words, let them wobble just a bit.
Let the cabinets become your enchanted forest. The oven light? Your spotlight. The dishwasher stands nearby as your loyal, slightly judgmental audience – splashing throughout.
Shuffle like a penguin on vacation. Twirl like a dandelion caught in a very confused breeze. Attempt a dramatic dip with an imaginary partner who is, frankly, doing none of the work. Perhaps with a broom.
No music? Even better. Hum something questionable and commit to it like it belongs on a world tour.
If something nearly falls, you’re doing it right. It is even easier if your house is on piers.
If the dog looks concerned, you’re excelling.
If you forget what you walked in there for… perfect.
And if someone walks in, do not stop. Simply nod, as if they’ve arrived precisely on cue for your grand finale. And ask them if they want to join.
Because this isn’t about dancing well.
It’s about remembering that not everything in life needs to be done well to be worth doing.
The kitchen was never meant to be just a place for cooking.
It’s a place where life happens in the middle of everything else – half-finished, slightly chaotic, and somehow still good.
So be off-beat. Let it be ridiculous. Let it be entirely yours.
Joy doesn’t need rhythm. It just needs permission.
Dance anyway. 💃
