Immaculate Purity on Mount Zvir: The Apparitions of Litmanová

Between 1990 and 1995, in the quiet village of Litmanová, Slovakia, two young girls reported monthly apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title “Immaculate Purity.” These events, unfolding on Mount Zvir, became a source of spiritual renewal for many, inviting pilgrims into a life of prayer, simplicity, and interior transformation.

The First Encounter

On August 5, 1990, Iveta Korčáková and Katka Češelková, along with Miťko Češelka, were playing on Mount Zvir when they heard mysterious sounds from the forest. Seeking refuge in a small hayloft, they began to pray. A radiant light filled the room, and the Virgin Mary appeared. While Miťko only saw the light, Iveta and Katka continued to receive apparitions over the next five years, always marked by peace and clarity.

Messages of Purity and Prayer

Mary’s messages, conveyed primarily to Iveta, emphasized purity of heart, daily prayer, and conversion. She appeared dressed in white, surrounded by light, and called the world to embrace “Immaculate Purity.” The apparitions occurred monthly, typically on the first Sunday, in the same hayloft. Katka, though present, ceased hearing the messages after 1991 but remained a witness to the Virgin’s presence.

A Pilgrimage Site Emerges

The apparitions coincided with the fall of communism in Eastern Europe—a time of spiritual searching and cultural upheaval. Pilgrims began to visit Mount Zvir, drawn by the Virgin’s invitation to return to God. Over time, the site was recognized as a place of prayer, with a chapel and facilities built to welcome visitors. Though the Church has not formally declared the apparitions supernatural, it permits public devotion and pilgrimage.

Today, Litmanová remains a quiet sanctuary. Iveta later entered religious life, while Katka continued her witness as a layperson. Their testimony endures, offering a gentle invitation to holiness in the midst of ordinary life.
