Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, 10/4

Saint Francis’ birthday is October 3rd. So, wow! His feast day is the next day. He was born in a wealthy and gave it all up in his adulthood. He began his religious life after spending time in prison. He heard God calling him to repair His Church. At this point, he gave up his life of luxury and began a life of poverty and religious life.

St. Francis of Assisi

What you may not know is that he was a stigmatist like Padre Pio. A stigmatist is someone who has the bleeding of Christ’s wounds. He was the first person to have all the wounds of Jesus. Saint Francis had them until his death.

Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals, merchants, and ecology.

“He who works with his hands is a laborer.

He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.

He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
