Feast Day of St. Jerome Emiliani

February 8th is the Feast of Saint Jerome Emiliani. He is the patron saint of abandoned and orphaned children, recognized for his compassionate dedication to caring for those who were left without families or support. Born in Venice, Italy, in 1486, he devoted his life to serving the less fortunate after undergoing a profound personal transformation after a near-death experience. His work led to the establishment of schools and organizations aimed at providing shelter and education for these vulnerable children. He died at the age of 56, leaving a lasting legacy of love and generosity that continues to inspire many to this day.
