Hold me

A black and white photo of an elderly couple walking hand in hand, with a heartfelt message about love and support through Alzheimer's.
A touching moment between a couple, illustrating love and devotion despite the challenges of Alzheimer’s.

Hold me when all are gone When my ears are too frail to hear our love song Hold me when all is hazy in days to come when slowly my bones become lazy Hold…

Hold me

Love transcends memory. It remains when words fade, when recognition slips away, when moments blur into shadows. Through every difficulty—including Alzheimer’s—we still love, fiercely and unconditionally.

Though they may not always say our names or grasp the details of our shared history, the essence of love never leaves. It is found in a gentle touch, in the way their hand lingers in yours, in the quiet comfort of simply being present. We love them not for what they remember, but for who they are and always will be.

For those walking this path, here is a poem that beautifully captures the depth of this love—love that endures even when memories do not. Check out the link above. It is a beautiful poem that captures the essence.

    1. Anyone who truly knows me understands that I deeply believe love, once given, cannot be erased—not by ALZ or any other challenge. Love remains, unyielding and eternal, and the essence of the person we love is still present. My mother passed away from ALZ, and while I was told she no longer recognized us, I refuse to accept and believe it because I look at it as a mother. As a mother, I know this love firsthand—no mother forgets the child she carried within her womb. That bond, formed through shared heartbeats and the sensations of the world surrounding them, is enduring and profound because at one time everything was shared. The love we give and receive transcends even memory itself.
