World Space Week 2024: Climate Change and Space Interaction

World Space run from October 4th – 10th. This years theme is Space and Climate Change. Space affects climate through solar and ultraviolet radiation. The sun is the Earth’s primary source of energy. And it can effect the temperatures across the Earth.

The ways we can take better care of ourselves because of radiation are:

  • Ozone Layer Protection
  • Sunscreen and Protective Clothing
  • UV Blocking Material
  • Shade Structures
  • Educating the public on the effects of radiation

The World Space Week Goals according to the British Interplanetary Society.

  • Provide unique leverage in space outreach and education
  • Educate people around the world about the benefits that they receive from space
  • Encourage greater use of space for sustainable economic development
  • Demonstrate public support for space programs
  • Excite young people about science, technology, engineering, and math
  • Foster international cooperation in space outreach and education
