Alright, buckle up. I’m about to ask you a question, and I already know you’re going to get it wrong.
If you had to guess what app eats up the most of my screen time, what would you pick?
Facebook? Instagram? YouTube? TikTok? Go ahead, place your bets. Put money on it. I’ll wait.
Statistically, you’d feel pretty confident. Social media apparently swallows close to 40% of the average person’s phone time. Somewhere right now, a TikTok algorithm is polishing its trophy case.
But not this time. Not me.
My most-used app isn’t social media. It isn’t ChatGPT. It isn’t even email, and trust me, that one surprised me too.
Drumroll intensifies.
It’s Hallow.
Do I feel guilty about that? Zero guilt. None. If my phone’s going to hijack hours of my life anyway, I’d rather it steal them for prayer and Scripture than for watching a stranger review skincare products I will never buy.
But hold onto your rosary, because there’s a very close second place — and this is where it gets fun.
It’s an app that doesn’t technically exist yet.
That’s right. Somewhere in the digital shadows, in a land of half-built screens and one very stubborn button bug that took me six months to defeat, I’ve been quietly building something. A reflective, Scripture-rooted writing tool. I can’t tell you what it’s called. I can’t tell you when it’s landing. I definitely can’t tell you how many times I said “we need to fix the categories” this week alone.
What I can tell you is this: it’s coming. Not today. Not tomorrow. But soon-ish, in the very trustworthy way faith-based developers use the word “soon.”
So keep one eye open. Something’s brewing.
And maybe the real question isn’t “what app eats your screen time?” Maybe it’s “what is that time actually building in you?”
Mine, apparently, is building a prayer life… and an app that refuses to launch without a proper diva moment first.
Be Salty.
