Exploring the Love for Classic Cars and Manual Transmissions

My all-time favorite vehicle? Oh, it’s definitely the classic four-wheeled wonder with a manual transmission—basically my soulmate on the road because I needed a car in time of need! Honestly, that’s all I need in life is something with four tires, stick shift and runs. Picture this: when my ex-better-half left years ago, he took off with our only car and left me with a scooter that will not work when I’m trying to wrangle a small child and trying to maneuver a bike. But fear not! My awesome mom swooped in and co-signed a note so I could snag a Dodge Colt—affectionately dubbed the “Gatorade mobile.” because of the color and where I worked shortly after. When she asked me what I wanted, I said, “Anything with four wheels and a manual transmission.” The woman knows me too well!

Other than that, I like the Mercedes SLK, Mustang, or pickup. The Dodge Colt and truck are utilitarian. Of course, all of them are stick shifts. You would be amazed at what you can fit inside a Dodge Colt. Hint: two adult 26″ bikes and one children’s bike, and then some. You have to work very creatively. Never put a Christmas tree on top of the car, but you can put it inside.

The Mercedes and Mustang are for the fun side. Of course, they need to have hard top. I want to manage to put the top down. Got to have some fun in life. What is your favorite car and why? Do you go for fun or utility or something else?
