Celebrate National Cookie Day with Swaps & More

Who doesn’t adore cookies? I mean, if the Cookie Monster and Santa are both fans, they must be pretty irresistible! But let’s be real, what could possibly go wrong with cookies? Oh, just a small detail: trying to make them healthier by skipping sugar, flour, or shortening is like trying to play hide-and-seek with your taste buds—they’re definitely going to find you, but not in a good way! Honestly, why mess with perfection? Cookies are fabulous just the way they are, calories and all!

What’s your favorite cookie? Or is it multiple? Mine is probably chocolate peanut butter no-bakes. They are delicious and fattening. Cookies are so grand that they even have festivals for them. Like EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays (Cookie Stroll) or Classic Cookie’s Annual Cookie Festival. Then they have cookie swaps. Wow! They are just waiting for someone like me to show up and become the Cookie Monster. Lol.

You are not going to believe this but there is more than one type of cookie events. Check this out.

Traditional Cookie Swap: Participants bake a batch of their favorite cookies and bring them to a gathering. Everyone exchanges cookies, so everyone goes home with a variety of treats.

Holiday Cookie Swap: Like the traditional swap, but focused on holiday-themed cookies. It’s a great way to get into the festive spirit and try new holiday recipes.

Themed Cookie Swap: These swaps have a specific theme, like “chocolate chip cookies only,” “international cookies,” or “healthy cookies.” It adds a fun twist and encourages creativity.

Virtual Cookie Swap: With the rise of virtual gatherings, many people are hosting cookie swaps online. Participants bake their cookies, take photos, and share recipes and pictures with each other virtually.

Cookie Decorating Party: Besides swapping cookies, participants bring plain cookies and decorating supplies. Everyone can decorate their cookies together and then swap them.

Cookie Recipe Exchange: Instead of bringing baked cookies, participants bring copies of their favorite cookie recipes. Everyone shares the recipes and can bake them later.

Ugly Sweater Cookie Swap: Guests wear their tackiest holiday sweaters and bring cookies to share. It’s a fun and festive way to celebrate the holiday season.

Cookie Exchange Party with Games: Adding games and activities to the cookie swap can make it even more enjoyable. Games like “guess the cookie” or “best presentation” can add a competitive and fun element.

I think I’m about to meet my sugary demise thanks to a cookie avalanche! But hey, if I’m going out, at least I’ll be wearing a peanut butter oatmeal no bake cookie smile. What’s your cookie of choice? Is there a magical recipe I should hunt down? I wonder if Cookie Monster or Santa will enjoy those cookies as well. Drop a link below and let’s plan a virtual cookie extravaganza—filled with the sweet chaos of crumbs and giggles! I can’t wait to hear about your cookie obsessions!

I think cookies are sort of the unsung sweet, you know? They’re incredibly popular. But everybody thinks of cakes and pies and fancier desserts before they think cookies. A plate of cookies is a great way to end dinner and really nice to share at the holidays.
