- Research: Begin by learning about the different roles and opportunities available in the Air Force, including active duty, reserve, and Air National Guard options.
- Meet Eligibility Requirements: You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident, at least 17 years old (with parental consent), and meet medical and physical standards. Generally, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Contact a Recruiter: Reach out to an Air Force recruiter who can provide detailed information about the enlistment process, career paths, and answer any questions you may have.
- Take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB): This test assesses your skills and helps determine your eligibility for various Air Force roles.
- Complete the Application Process: Fill out required forms and attend an interview with the recruiter to discuss your goals and options.
- Medical Examination:Undergo a medical examination at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to ensure you meet the health standards required for service.
- Select a Job: Based on your ASVAB scores, medical results, and preferences, you’ll work with your recruiter to choose your Air Force job (AFSC).
- Swear In: Once you have selected a job and completed all previous steps, you will take the Oath of Enlistment, officially becoming a member of the Air Force.
- Basic Training: After enlisting, you will attend Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, where you will learn essential military skills and discipline.
