I am going to show my age now. I remember as I was growing up, the stores were closed, and everyone spent Sundays together, which created an invaluable sense of unity. Families would gather around the dinner table, sharing hearty meals and stories from the week, fostering connections that sometimes fade in our fast-paced lives today. As a matter of fact, the stores closed on Saturday by 6 pm, a time when neighborhoods would calm down, creating a peaceful atmosphere that invited family bonding. That meant the family had the privilege of spending even more quality time with each other, engaging in activities like playing games, going for walks in the park, or simply enjoying each other’s company without the constant distraction of technology. I really enjoyed those days, as they were filled with laughter and cherished moments that I now look back on fondly, realizing just how special that time truly was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The way our Sundays started was with breakfast and church. My Dad would take the older ones with him, and my Mom had the responsibility of the younger ones. Since I was one of the younger ones, I had the pleasure of watching my Mom cook breakfast, which was always a delightful experience filled with the enchanting smells of biscuits, eggs, bacon, and milk. The kitchen radiated warmth as the sun streamed through the window, casting a golden light on the table set with our plates. It was always a timing thing because we had to fast for an hour before church. Dad went at 8 am, and Mom at 11 am, ensuring that everyone was prepared for the day ahead. Then, later in the day, we would gather for Sunday dinner, a vibrant affair where laughter and conversation filled the room as everyone shared their thoughts and prayers for\/about the week. Afterwards, we would play games – board games, card games, and sometimes we would even venture outside for freeze tag or Mother may I?in the yard. As the stars began to twinkle in the evening sky, we would end the night with nightly prayers to Our Heavenly Father, reflecting on our day and expressing our gratitude for the moments we had shared as a family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
