We are to genuinely love them as they are. We do not know their histories nor truly their present. Only one person can travel the path chosen for each of us at the same time. We are on our own journey. We are all beautiful inside in our own way.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. ⁴Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

1 Peter 3:3,4 NIV

This brings to mind any woman who chooses to veil when going to church or chapel. A woman who chooses to adorn herself with a veil is showing respect and reverence to our Lord and her spouse if married, embodying an age-old tradition. Many of us are afraid to wear a veil because we are concerned about the thoughts of others. I am one of those. I know how many failings I have.

I have heard many try to explain why wearing a veil is so reverent and respectful. Recently, I heard an Orthodox priest explain it so eloquently. He said that veils were always used to cover something priceless and sacred, serving as a symbol of reverence and humility before Our Lord. He explained how we cover the altar and also cover the Body and Blood of Christ with the utmost reverence, acknowledging the significance of the sacrament. This practice not only honors the sacred but also serves as a reminder for us to recognize the beauty and sanctity in our own lives, encouraging a deeper spiritual connection and devotion. It is not required in either the Roman Catholic Church or Orthodox Church. It is something that any woman can choose to do of her own volition.

They say don’t judge a book by its cover. Appearances are deceiving.
