Whisper something like, \u201cYou\u2019re doing amazing, sweetie.\u201d If anyone looks at you funny, tell them you\u2019re practicing<em> gratitude aerobics.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because truth be told, your elbows are the unsung heroes of the human body. They\u2019re the quiet backstage crew making sure your arms hit their cues. You couldn\u2019t sip coffee, give a hug, wave at a friend, or even fold your hands in prayer without them. They bend, stretch, and support every loving, creative, coffee-fueled thing you do and never once complain about it. So yes, they deserve a moment in the spotlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bend, Don\u2019t Break (Especially Before Coffee)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine a world without elbows. Tragic, right? You\u2019d have to drink your morning coffee like a giraffe at a watering hole. Brushing your hair? Forget it. Hugging your husband? Impossible. Even crossing yourself at church would take a miracle of geometry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s funny how we forget the tiny miracles that hold us together. Scripture reminds us in <strong>Psalm 139:14 (NABRE)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI praise you, because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are your works! My very self you know.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That includes the overlooked parts knees, knuckles, eyelashes, and yes, elbows. God doesn\u2019t waste design. Every hinge, every joint, every little motion is proof of His creativity and care. I like to think elbows were God\u2019s way of saying, \u201cYou\u2019re going to need to reach for a lot of things in life, so let\u2019s make that easier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holy Hinges and Heavenly Humor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there were a verse about elbows, I imagine it might say something like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBlessed are the bendable, for they shall not break.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not canon, but it preaches. Because grace bends. It doesn\u2019t stiffen or snap. It flexes. It stretches when patience runs thin and reaches when love feels far away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We read in <strong>Nehemiah 8:10 (NABRE)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cDo not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD is your strength!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The joy of the Lord truly is our strength and joy, like a good elbow, has to move to stay healthy. Every act of kindness requires a bit of motion: stirring soup for someone, lifting groceries, waving hello, folding hands in prayer. Even forgiveness, I think, takes a good hinge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace lives in those moments when love bends first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creative Bending in the Studio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I\u2019m sewing fabric, wrapping candles, or stringing jewelry, my elbows are the real MVPs. They hold everything steady while my hands do their fancy work. Without them, I\u2019d be one stiff statue with a pile of tangled ribbon and glitter in my hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faith and creativity are a lot alike. Both take flexibility. One mistake, and you start again with a little laughter and a prayer that says, \u201cLord, please let this glue dry straight.\u201d Every time I bend to tie a ribbon or reach for the thread, I remember: God made us to move, to make, to bless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Saint Paul wrote in <strong>1 Corinthians 12:18 (NABRE)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cBut as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He didn\u2019t skip the elbows. He gave us these small, holy hinges so we could reach out, lift up, and embrace one another. Every bend is a reminder that love is meant to move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flexibility Is Next to Godliness<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s be honest&#8230;some days, flexibility feels like a lost virtue. We dig our heels in, clutch our opinions, and stiffen up faster than day-old cookie dough. But elbows? They bend without complaint. They don\u2019t grumble or gossip about shoulders. They just do their job with quiet grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Proverbs 17:22 (NABRE)<\/strong> we\u2019re told:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cA joyful heart is the health of the body, but a depressed spirit dries up the bones.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our elbows remind us to stay joyful and flexible, both physically and spiritually. When life asks us to yield or adjust, bending keeps us from breaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And let\u2019s admit it, God definitely has a sense of humor. Who else would design a creature so wonderfully complex and then give it bendy sticks called arms? He must smile every time we fumble, flex, and find the funny in our daily grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s one of my favorite \u201chomemade proverbs\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cElbows: proof that God wanted us to reach out <em>and<\/em> scratch our backs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not sure if Saint Francis ever said it, but I think he\u2019d approve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gratitude for the Little Things<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s easy to thank God for sunsets and miracles, but gratitude grows best in the small, everyday places. Joy hides in the simple motions we barely notice, holding a mug, hugging a child, folding a towel, lighting a candle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul says in <strong>Philippians 4:4 (NABRE)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cRejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, even your elbows deserve a little rejoicing. Because every reach, every wave, every small act of love is part of the symphony of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So today, bless the little things that keep you moving forward. Gratitude is holy grease.  It keeps the joints of the soul from squeaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Blessing for the Bend<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your week has been stiff with stress, take this as your holy reminder to stretch. Lift your arms, breathe deep, and thank the Lord who built you to move through this world with grace. Faith was never meant to be rigid.  It was meant to reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go ahead.  Give your elbows a mini spa blessing. A dab of lotion, a smile, maybe a whispered prayer like, \u201cLord, thank You for the hinges that help me hold it all together.\u201d Then lift your cup of coffee (or tea, or water bottle) and say, \u201cCheers, Lord!  Thanks for the elbows!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the same God who made galaxies also made joints, and both serve the same divine purpose: to move with joy toward the light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the psalmist said in <strong>Psalm 100:1\u20132 (NABRE):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cShout joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; serve the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful song.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That joy belongs in every part of you&#8230;from your smile to your elbows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Reflection: Joy Has Joints<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyday holiness doesn\u2019t have to be solemn to be sacred. It can giggle. It can stretch. It can pour coffee and hum a hymn at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You, my friend, are fearfully and wonderfully made &#8211; from your heart full of faith to your elbows full of joy. So go ahead and bend a little today. Laugh more than you think you should. Live loosely, love freely, and remember: even the smallest parts of you were designed to praise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because joy, as it turns out, really does have joints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pJjgxXCkMYk?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=es-MX&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf3f Surprise Benediction: The Holiest Hokey Pokey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe, just maybe, that\u2019s the secret to it all.<br>Maybe grace really <em>is<\/em> a little like the Hokey Pokey.<br>You reach out, you let go, you shake it all about\u2014and somehow, right there in the middle of the laughter and the motion, God smiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You turn yourself around, and you realize\u2014that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Scripture says, <em>\u201cThere is an appointed time for everything\u2026 a time to weep, and a time to laugh\u201d<\/em> (<strong>Ecclesiastes 3:1,4, NABRE<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So laugh. Bend. Dance.<br>Put your whole self in\u2014heart, elbows, joy and all\u2014because that\u2019s what life in God\u2019s grace is really about.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever thanked your elbows?
